7 Ways to Avoid a Traffic Accident

Over 90 percent of the automobile accidents are preventable. Here are eight of these cases, you can completely bypass collision with a little common sense and caution.

* Intersection errors. According to the Federal Highway Administration, the intersection and the intersection related crashes account for approximately 23 percent of all fatal accidents, and more than half of all fatalities and injuries occur at intersections. Look around carefully, and always act with caution in an intersection, even if you have the right of way.
* Inattention. Pay attention to your own driving, other drivers, pedestrians and driving conditions.
* Following too close. Most back injuries are caused by tailgating, according to the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Maintain a 3 second following distance from the car in front of you, except in hazardous weather conditions where we should hold a 4 - or 5-car depending on the distance.
* Vehicle malfunction. Ont examinations, including wiper fluid, brakes and tires, wiper blades and replaced when they are worn.
* Routes dangerous. Ice (who tend to develop more often on bridges, gateways, shade and intersections), snow, fog and rain conditions require a slower speed and much greater caution.
* Speeds unhealthy. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "the economic cost of speeding related crashes is estimated at 40.4 billion dollars each year." Excessive speed reduces reaction time and increases the impact and injuries.
* Improper Lane Changes. Before you change, check all mirrors, and the signal time to change. Also, watch for other vehicles.
