Collecting your money

Insurance is unlike any other product you buy. When you buy a car, for example, you can drive home. When you buy a house, you live there. However, when you buy insurance, you get only a piece of paper that symbolizes a promise that your request will be granted. But how can you make sure you get paid? Here are some tips to follow.

1. Make sure you know your claim number. Write it and do it with you. Without forgetting to enable the adjuster to process your request more quickly. Setting the fastest can handle the demand, the more he or she will be to work with.

2. Do not nickel and workpiece setting. If their offer is close and reasonable, not to push it for $ 5. You'll never get them and you can make the difficult negotiations on other aspects of your claim.

3. Do not tell the setting you are going to hire a lawyer. They hear that all day, every day. There is no fear. In fact, it is usually quite take a hard line to your request. Unless you've hired a lawyer, not to say.

4. Treat the setting as a real person. Some adjusters are people too. And just think, at least, they are not debt collectors! An adjuster who is treated respectfully you will treat the same way. This makes the claim process much easier.

5. Provide documentation reasonable. If you believe you had a $ 500 car seat in your car, you can expect the adjuster to see proof of it. May If you have not received the original, you should be able to provide certain documents that the car seat that costs you ask. (And yes, I have seen people claim $ 500 car seats. I've never seen that costs that much, but people will demand it.)

6. Do not expect the adjustment to be your friend. The setting has a job to do: Pay your request and proceed to the next request. If they save the insurance company money, from their point of view is even better. But do not expect you to give advice, explain things to you or give you what your case is interesting!

7. Prepare, prepare, prepare. You are not going to sit down and do your taxes without examining the documents, understanding the process, and spend time to learn how. The same goes for your auto insurance. For example, if your vehicle is a total loss, learn how your state determines its value. Is this a fair market value or is it a blue book? Once you know, decide what you think your car is worth. If you try to settle a claim of injury, to learn what you can get compensation. Then, preparing this list and determine which items you have a claim.

Insurance is unlike anything else. If you want to get fair compensation for your claim, you must do your homework. This list is not an exhaustive list of what you have to do. But it gives you some basic advice on how to make sure you have paid your application fairly and timely.
